Lizzie Ryder-Soprano


Lizzie Ryder is a celebrated spinto soprano based in London. With her expressive and versatile voice, she has earned a strong reputation in both the operatic and concert worlds. Lizzie's talent has been recognized with several prestigious awards, including the Mario Lanza Opera Prize, the Edward Brooks English Song Prize, the Reginald Vincent Lieder Prize (Highly Commended by Richard Stokes), the Margaret Pascoe Scholarship for Excellence, and the Silver Medal from the Worshipful Company of Musicians.

Lizzie has performed across the UK in a range of operatic roles. Recent highlights include Donna Anna in Don Giovanni for Hurn Court Opera, Nedda in Pagliacci for West Green House Opera, and Micaëla in Carmen for St Paul’s Opera. She has also portrayed roles such as Röschen in Ethel Smyth’s Der Wald with The Opera Makers, Countess Ceprano in Rigoletto for Nevill Holt Opera, and Anna Maurrant in Street Scene. Other notable roles include Suor Angelica in Puccini’s opera of the same name, Galatea in Acis and Galatea, and the Governess in The Turn of the Screw. Lizzie has also appeared in opera scenes including Tytania in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Ellen Orford in Peter Grimes, Fox in The Cunning Little Vixen, Female Chorus in The Rape of Lucretia, Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte, and Blanche in Dialogues des Carmélites (Morley Opera School).

As a concert soloist, Lizzie is highly sought after and frequently performs with leading orchestras across the UK. She is a returning soloist with the Hallé Orchestra, where she most recently performed at Nottingham’s Royal Concert Hall in 2024. Her previous engagements with the Hallé include performances of Rusalka's Song to the Moon (2019) and Easter Hymn from Cavalleria Rusticana (2014). Lizzie has also performed Easter Hymn with the CBSO at Birmingham's Symphony Hall.

Lizzie is also a regular soloist with the Charnwood Orchestra, where she has performed Shéhérazade by Maurice Ravel and Les Illuminations by Benjamin Britten. She has also collaborated with the Beauchamp Sinfonietta, where her performances included Wesendonck Lieder by Richard Wagner and Sieben frühe Lieder by Alban Berg.
